Tom and Joan Hubbard, native Floridians, have shared not only 40+ years of marriage, but also a lifelong love of the beach. They have each owned and operated independent businesses for a number of years.
Pelican Path Bed and Breakfast by the Sea combines their love of the beach with the opportunity to collaborate in a small, but challenging business venture. Their design, construction and furnishing of Pelican Path has focused on providing an exciting array of amenities to vacation and business travelers.
History:
This beautiful, ocean front property was purchased in the Fall of 1996. Tom, a Civil Engineer, designed the new space to fit the deep, narrow lot. An earlier trip to San Francisco was the inspiration for the architecture of the Bed and Breakfast Inn. The addition of bay windows on the second and third floors accomplished two important goals: (1) they provide an ocean view from all guest rooms and (2) they add to the light and spaciousness of the rooms.
Tom and Joan had hoped to open Pelican Path Bed and Breakfast in the summer of 1997; however, construction always seems to take longer than expected. A full eighteen months later than anticipated, in November 1998, Pelican Path Bed and Breakfast was open to the traveling and vacationing public.
Affiliations:
We believe it important to belong to professional and civic organizations. Pelican Path is a member of the state bed and breakfast association (FBBI). As part of the membership in the state association (Florida Bed and Breakfast Inns) we participate in their biannual inspection program. The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, The Jacksonville and the Beaches Convention and Visitors' Bureau, and the Beaches Hospitality Network are other important affiliations which we maintain.
